OpenClaw skills worth knowing, with a TLDR for each
Short answer
As of October 2026, OpenClaw 2026.9.7 ships 49 bundled skills, such as github, gog (Google Workspace), summarize and weather. It adds 4 Custodian skills for the configured Custodian agent only, plus 96 official external plugin packages. All bundled skills are free, though many need a separate app or account. Tens of thousands of community skills sit on ClawHub (clawhub.ai).
Based on the official documentation and the OpenClaw 2026.9.7 package as of October 2026, this directory covers OpenClaw's add-ons. It lists every bundled skill, the main official plugins and notable community items, each with a one-line TLDR. New to OpenClaw? Start with What is OpenClaw? first.
What "all" means here
This list covers every bundled skill in OpenClaw 2026.9.7, key official plugins and a hand-picked set of notable community items. It cannot list every ClawHub entry, because the registry holds tens of thousands. Community items are labeled. Being listed here is not a safety endorsement.
The 49 bundled skills come from the openclaw 2026.9.7 npm package, published September 30, 2026. Future releases may add or remove skills. Most bundled skills wrap a separate command-line tool and only load when that tool is present. "Free" below means the skill costs nothing; the app or service it connects to may not.
Notes, tasks and documents
These bundled skills let the agent work with the note apps, to-do lists and documents you already use. Several are Mac-only. Each one drives a small command-line tool, so you install that tool once and the skill switches on. Some also need the app itself, such as Bear or Things 3.

Email, accounts and social
These skills give the agent access to your inbox, calendar, passwords and X account. They are among the most useful and the most sensitive. Connect them only on a setup you have secured, and consider a separate account for the agent.
| Name | TLDR (what it does) | Made by | Cost | Link |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| gog | Works with Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Contacts, Sheets and Docs through a Google Workspace CLI. | OpenClaw | Free; needs Google account | GitHub |

| xurl | Posts, replies, reads, searches and sends DMs on X through its API. | OpenClaw | Free skill; needs X API access | GitHub |
Developer and automation
This is the largest group. These skills help the agent work with code, terminals, debuggers and other AI tools. The coding-agent skill is opt-in, per the skills docs, because it hands work to other coding agents. Most need the matching CLI, such as gh for GitHub, installed first.
| Name | TLDR (what it does) | Made by | Cost | Link |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| github | Uses the GitHub CLI for issues, pull requests, CI logs, reviews and releases. | OpenClaw | Free | GitHub |
| gh-issues | Picks GitHub issues, spawns background agents to fix them and opens pull requests. | OpenClaw | Free | GitHub |
| coding-agent | Hands larger coding jobs to Codex, Claude Code or OpenCode running in the background (opt-in). | OpenClaw | Free; needs one of those tools | GitHub |

Smart home, music and devices
These skills let the agent control lights, speakers, cameras and even a smart bed. Each needs the matching hardware on your network. They are handy for asking your chat app to "dim the lights" or "play jazz in the kitchen." Each is free to add.
| Name | TLDR (what it does) | Made by | Cost | Link |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| openhue | Controls Philips Hue lights and scenes. | OpenClaw | Free; needs Hue hardware | GitHub |

Voice and speech
These skills turn speech into text and text into speech. Two run fully on your own machine with no cloud service. The other two use paid cloud services from OpenAI and ElevenLabs, which bill you directly. Pick the local ones if you want privacy or no usage bills.
| Name | TLDR (what it does) | Made by | Cost | Link |

How to add one
Most bundled skills switch on by themselves once the tool they need is installed; coding-agent must be turned on in settings. For ClawHub skills, you search, check, then install with the owner's name included. Plugins use a separate command. These steps come from the skills and ClawHub docs and the ClawHub README.
- Search:
openclaw skills search "calendar". - Look before installing: open the skill's ClawHub page, or run
clawhub inspect @owner/<slug>with the separate ClawHub CLI. - Verify:
openclaw skills verify @owner/<slug> --cardprints the scan summary and Skill Card. - Install:
openclaw skills install @owner/<slug>. Add--globalto share it with all your local agents. - Update later:
openclaw skills update --all. - For a plugin:
openclaw plugins install @openclaw/discord, swapping in the package name you want.
OpenClaw can also install skills listed on skills.sh (openclaw skills install skills-sh:owner/repo/slug) or from a Git repo (openclaw skills install git:owner/repo@ref). Its Skill Workshop lets the agent draft new skills as proposals you approve with openclaw skills workshop apply <proposal-id>.
Each eligible skill adds roughly 24 tokens to every prompt, plus the length of its name, description and file path. Install what you will use, not everything.
Safety checklist before you install
Skills run with your agent's access to your files, email and terminal. In early 2026, researchers found 341 malicious skills on ClawHub that installed password-stealing malware. Scanning is much better now, but it is not a guarantee. A few minutes of checking can save your passwords and files.
- Read the SKILL.md. The official docs say: "Treat third-party skills as untrusted code."
- Never run a "prerequisite" command or download a zip a skill asks for unless you understand it. That was the main ClawHavoc trick.
- Check the ClawHub page. Three scanners (VirusTotal, static analysis and NVIDIA SkillSpector) feed a ClawScan verdict of Clean, Suspicious or Malicious. The Skill Card shows the publisher, what the skill can do and where it came from.
- Be extra careful with crypto, trading, auto-updater, YouTube and Google Workspace skills, which the ClawHavoc attackers imitated.
- Note skills that talk to outside services, such as Evolver's EvoMap Hub, and decide if you are comfortable with that.
- Prefer bundled skills and known publishers, and run
openclaw security auditafter changes.

Frequently asked questions
How many skills come with OpenClaw?
The OpenClaw 2026.9.7 package, released September 30, 2026, includes 49 bundled skills plus 4 Custodian skills that only the configured Custodian agent can use. Most bundled skills only switch on when the tool they need is installed.
How many skills are on ClawHub?
ClawHub does not show a live public total. OpenClaw's June 2026 security post analyzed 67,453 public ClawHub skill versions. The community Awesome OpenClaw Skills list curates more than 5,300 of them.
What is the difference between an OpenClaw skill and a plugin?
A skill is a SKILL.md instruction file that teaches the agent a task, usually by driving a command-line tool. A plugin is a code package that adds deeper features such as a chat channel, a model provider or long-term memory.
Are OpenClaw skills free?
The bundled skills and most ClawHub skills are free. Some call paid services, such as ElevenLabs voices, the OpenAI transcription API or Google Places, and those companies bill you for use.
How do I check a ClawHub skill before installing it?
Open its ClawHub page and review the scan results, Skill Card and publisher. Run clawhub inspect to look at it without installing, or openclaw skills verify @owner/slug. Then read its SKILL.md yourself.
